Our Mission

Cocoa Cafe Chattanooga is more than just a cafe—it’s the heartbeat of Alton Park, a vibrant gathering hub dedicated to revitalizing the South Chattanooga Business District. Our mission is to create a thriving bistro and kitchen incubator that not only serves culinary delights but also empowers local entrepreneurs. By fostering a welcoming and dynamic environment, Cocoa Cafe aims to bring the community together, support local businesses, and contribute to the cultural and economic growth of South Chattanooga.

We believe in the transformative power of food and community. Our cafe serves as a central point where people can come together to enjoy delicious meals, share stories, and build connections. The kitchen incubator program is designed to nurture and support aspiring culinary entrepreneurs by providing them with the resources, mentorship, and space they need to grow and succeed. We strive to be a catalyst for positive change, offering a space that reflects the rich diversity and vibrant spirit of our neighborhood.

Our History

Cocoa Cafe is an initiative born from the dedication and vision of The Net Resource Foundation. Established to tackle systemic issues through mentorship and community-building programs, The Net Resource Foundation has a rich history of serving the South Chattanooga community. The foundation’s mission is to challenge systemic issues by being an active part of the community, assessing needs from within, and delivering high-quality programs tailored to make a meaningful impact.

The inspiration for The Net Resource Foundation comes from the Biblical principle found in Matthew 13:47, which describes the indiscriminate nature of fishing with a dragnet. This method captures not only fish but also the other “stuff” at the bottom of the sea. The foundation embraces this concept, recognizing the complexities and unique challenges individuals face. By addressing the whole person, The Net Resource Foundation provides comprehensive support that considers the diverse needs of the community.

Over the years, The Net Resource Foundation has developed numerous programs aimed at mentorship, education, and community development. Cocoa Cafe represents the next step in this mission, creating a space that combines the culinary arts with community empowerment. Our rehabilitated venue at the corner of Alton Park Boulevard and 38th Street stands as a testament to our commitment to revitalizing the area and providing opportunities for growth and development. Through the cafe and kitchen incubator, we aim to continue the foundation’s legacy of making a positive and lasting impact on South Chattanooga.
